Juvederm, Ultra Plus, Volbella and Voluma are examples of another class of injectables known as fillers. These products literally fill in deeper wrinkles and plump up parts of the face, such as the apples of the cheeks and areas around the mouth and chin where age-related volume loss has occurred (or adequate volume was never present.)
Unlike neuromodulators that simply relax muscles, dermal fillers restore fullness to hollowed out areas with hyaluronic acid-based solutions injected into the soft tissue under the skin. Filling in areas where the underlying structure has dissipated prevents much of the sagging and drooping effect that contributes to looking older.
Fillers differ in formulation for specific areas of the face, and are not only great for addressing the signs of aging, they have the ability to enhance facial features by plumping up thin lip lines and removing under-eye shadows by subtly altering facial contours.
Injectables are minimally invasive and have zero to little downtime following treatment. Depending on the formulation you choose and the area to which it is applied, results can last from six to 18 months or longer.
